Merb I Miss U Already

Just imagine opening your merb present this year, to find a box of uncertainties and total disappointment. Throwing the box and stumping out of the room. Whispering to ones self going “I did not think the breaking merb 2.0 api would be a new framework, ERH?”

Now just imagine u are a rails developer opening our rails box for xmas; going “thats amazing that just what I wanted for xmas”, and showing all the family and going “look what I got, you haven’t got that”

The more and more I think about the merge; I think its a wrong decision.

Yes I am 1 person in the 4%. I am normally wrong so it should be cool.

Why should I care that this merge might be making some people slightly richer this xmas; It would be naive to think that there was no monetary issues that made this decision happen.

I dont care! the only thing I care about is this,

“How much further Merb would of got if merb had another 6 months?????????” Think about this!! For the next 6 months no progress on merb just merge after merge
after merge. I really did see merb uptake getting exponential by this point; the features outlined would of just been too cool to ignore.

Why did merb have to grow up so quick?? I was not looking for merb to be a 3 year old that goes out for coffee and bust some moves down the disco then finish the
night with a kebab;

- stability, “was gonna get it”
- community, “was gonna get it”

- traction, “was gonna get it”

- experience, “was gonna get it”

“In core teams we trust”, yes I truly do believe that rails 3.0 will be awesome;
But there are always caveats.

Merb code was born from a different point of view!

“If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things through narrow chinks of his cavern.”

But then I think to myself; I am building apps with ruby; and the world seems cool again; I can build apps in minutes and deliver all my client needs, whether this be on a framework that I was not expecting. its still going to be awesome.

happy new year.
